Most Internet radios can play back music stored on your PC (typically MP3’s) provided that the PC is connected to the same WiFi network as the Radio, and provided that the music tracks are not protected with DRM.
Digital Rights Management software is designed to prevent the copying of music files that have been purchased and downloaded online. It works by only allowing the files to be played back on the device (PC) that the song is downloaded to, and any portable MP3 players that the song is transfered onto, provided it also supports DRM. There are two main brands/ types of DRM - Microsofts(R) DRM10, which is included with the Microsoft (R) Windows Media Player, and Apples (R) proprietory iTunes DRM system. Many people choose not to buy protected music online, and instead prefer to buy a CD and RIP the music onto their PC, so that the resulting files do not have DRM. These files can then be played back on devices that do not have DRM support. Please note that Reciva Radios do not currently support Digital Rights Management software. This means that Reciva based radios can play back tracks ripped from CD, but not DRM protected tracks purchased online. There has been a movement, started by EMI, to stop using DRM, and you can now buy some unprotected (DRM free) music via iTunes.
