At night, I simply place a small piece of cardboard over the lighted displays, plug in my pillow speaker, and I'm all set. A plus would be easier searching key functions and a side display screen for easier viewing from bed. Now, if I could only get Reciva to add the stations I've suggested, I'd be totally happy!

Got mine for Birthday and its brilliant! Occassionally drops out for no apparent reason even though router signal strength is good and even the dimmest display brightness is still very bright at night. Could do with more presets. Firmware upgrade went very easily and now finding HMI intuitive. Would highly recommend it.

Great cute little radio.Has been playing almost 24hrs a day.Sound great too.Easy set up ,connect to my Rotel amps for more powerful sound.

Good product in theory but I'm afraid the crackles (mentioned by others too) have driven me to distraction and its going back. Very disappointing that this fairly expensive product was not tested sufficiently to resolve this.

Got this for Christmas (2006) and loved it since.
Pros: Good form factor, Built in speaker. Has worked
flawlessly for about 2 weeks now.
Cons: Firmware update took several tries on a reliable
high speed network. Many cons such as backlight
intensty control, sleep timer etc were fixed with the
firmware update. WPA did not work until the firmware
update.
At low volumes, there is a distint boost in the low
frequency response. This is good for music but really
not helpful while listening to speech (like in
newscasts).
There is a small LED inside that seems to be some
kind of link activity. This is not an annoyance though.
5 main presets and 5 with shift are not enought for me
and I will play with my favorties after I figure out
the reciva setups.
Lack of battery is a minor con. I'll play with the
power input jack to supply power from an external battery pack.

Love it got mine for christmas 100% top stuff the way to go :) for get fm radios go internet radio we will be on there soon ccr-fm.co.uk stay tunned 97.6fm 87.7fm but rsl back re the net soon :P

I received the AE for Christmas 2006, very pleased, very neat, great reception, and nice to have the world at your finger tips. I managed the firmware upgrade ok, just wish the broadcasters, e.g. BBC, would stream at higher bit-rate.

Great little radio, only downside is the crackling problem when on low to medium volume, if AE could cure this I would award 5 Stars.

I got the AE for Christmas this year and was instantly hooked on Internet Radio. I have added several of my own stations. I thought it would be nice to be able to surf my MP3 library through a windows share (actually Samba under Linux) - I did an upgrade to the firmware and got it working in a few minutes.
My only suggestion is that the databasing of media work a little better - right now it's just artist and album. It would be nice to just add everything, or playlists, or even just add all the songs from a single artist.
I am sure some of this stuff will come in time.
This is a great unit. I'd buy it again.

Next to my iPod this has to be the best bit of tech I have bought. The manual is pretty sparse but setting up is a breeze and is covered well within the text.
Up until I got this it was a set of remote speakers accessing stations via Windows Media Player...... you would not believe how bad this was! Now we get access to a huge spectrum of stations and everyone we expect to find has been available.
The unit itself is really pleasing to the eye. Some of the others were a little on the large side (like the BT version) but this unit sits pretty on the kitchen shelf were we use it most of all.
Overall, this is a great product and a great service.
